Cutting + sticking + sewing + baking. My creative life.

Forest Friends Quilt

I had a lot of owl fabric left over from previous owl projects and I decided to add some different woodland creature material to the mix and make a quilt for a friend who is an animal lover and enjoys the great outdoors.

Whenever I make a quilt my dog, Billie, will come and investigate what I’m doing. She walks across them, stands on them and has a good look and sniff of each quilt in progress.

This is a Bonnie K Hunter pattern called Bricks & Stepping Stones.

My Mum bought the backing fabric from a charity shop. It is an adorable Ikea soft furnishing material with mice, ducks, giraffes, cows, tigers and rabbits driving vehicles made from shoes, strawberries, carrots, cupcake cases, teacups and armchairs.

This is the last scrap of my favourite owl fabric.

This quilt is quilted by Debbie Holland with an owl and flower design.

I’ve used up most of my owl fabric now, so it’s on to another theme.

Love Melanie Xx
